Art Department
The Art Department
of Hill Middle competes in local, state and national competitions.
We promote creativity, originality and the development of a personal
style.
Art isn't just about drawing, and Visual
Art at Hill involves a whole lot more! We work with clay, paper
mache, watercolor, acrylic on canvas, batik, enamel on copper
and fused glass. Silkscreening, weaving, book making, digital
photography, and mural painting are also a part of the Hill Art
experience.
We encourage students to attend summer
sessions at the NC School for the Arts and the Sawtooth Center
for Visual Arts.
For two years in a row Hill Middle students have received Gold
Keys in the Scholastic Art Competition for their outstanding linoleum
block prints and have been recognized publicly by the School Board.
Artwork is exhibited in the halls of
the school as well as online at Artsonia. Student works have been
in exhibition at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art
(SECCA), Downtown Artists Association Spring Exhibition, Downtown
Library, Delta Fine Arts Center and the Mayor's office.
You do not have to be great at drawing
to enroll in the art classes at Hill. With practice, hard work
and effort, you will become one of the best of the best!
